RED WINE - PALMERIM...

The wine region of Trás-os-Montes, in the northeast of Portugal, is divided into three sub-regions: Chaves, Valpaços and Planalto Mirandês. Mountainous, dry climate, very hot in summer and very cold in winter, is crossed by the tributaries and subtributaries of the Douro River. In its deep valleys endures the Mediterranean influence, where, since the time of the Romans, famous wines are produced. It is in this sub-region of Chaves, between the valleys of Tâmega and Ribeira de Oura, in the parishes of Oura, Selhariz, Pheasants and Vila Verde da Raia, in granite soils, with sandy texture, and in others of shale origin, that are located the farms where this wine was born. Its current owners come from families long rooted in these lands and wanted to preserve the memory of their ancestors, producing a quality wine that, articulated with other activities, dignified the culture of this unique territory. In this way, they defend the heritage they have inherited and participate in the development of a sustainable economy. The grape varieties are mostly Portuguese. The harvest is made manually by grape variety and the winemaking is made in traditional lagar where innovations were made to ensure a fermentation with temperature control. Rui Cunha and Sérgio Alves are the responsible winemakers. PalmeiRIM D' INGLATERRA wine owes its name to a famous 19th-century cavalry novel. XVI, written by transmontano Francisco de Moraes, common ancestor of the owners of these farms. "De si es muy bueno", was how Miguel Cervantes described this work in Don Quixote de la Mancha. The label was designed by Augusto Cid.
