<h3 style="text-align:justify;"><span class="tm6"></span><span class="tm7">João Póvoa is part of a small group of bottleproducers who shook Bairrada in the early 1990s, producing traditional berry reds. From Quinta de Baixo came some of these mythical and sumptuous wines of the Region - Quinta de Baixo 1991. In the new Kompassus project, which gives its name to the company's major references, it comes from the association with the tighter vine compass - 1.7m, reproducing an older and endangered technique. This results in greater competitiveness among plants, a more controlled production, then qualitatively superior. Currently the duo João Póvoa and Anselmo Mendes, raise us to a more ambitious and demanding horizon.</span></h3> <h3 style="text-align:justify;"><span class="tm6">The vineyards are situated in a privileged location in Cordinhã, the soils are predominantly clay-limestone with strong sun exposure to the south. Berry grapes come from old vineyards about 70 years old. The waxing base are autoctotic castes, such as; Bical, Maria Gomes, Cercial and Baga. In addition to these, Touriga Nacional merlot and pinot noir, verdelho and alvarinho. The vineyards are oriented according to organic practices and sustainable viticulture, in a mode of organic production providing natural wines. Since 2012, oenology has been guided by the winemaker Anselmo Mendes who specializes in fresh and Atlantic whites, master in Alvarinhos, and has long admired the most genuine wines of Bairrada. Their participation is responsible for planting the Verdelho and Alvarinho varieties exclusively in limestone soils, and the result was surprising.</span></h3> <p></p> <p></p>

<h3 style="text-align:justify;"><span class="tm6">The first reference made to QUINTA DE CARAPEÇOS dates from 1338, the year in which a daughter of Martim Carvalho, Knight of Basto, married, João de Carapeços, so called for being the Lord of the Fifth of the same name.<br />In 1351, the property was sold and, already in the early 19th century. Xvii, it became part of the Monastery of San Salvador de Travanca, which was founded in the mid-19th century. XII by the Benedictine monks.<br />With the extinction of the Religious Orders in 1834, the farm was sold, the current owner being a descendant of the aforementioned Martim Carvalho. </span>Inserted in the Vinho Verdes Region, more precisely in the municipality of Amarante – land of Pascoaes and Souza Cardoso, QUINTA DE CARAPEÇOS is known for its natural beauty, as well as for the quality and uniqueness of its White Wines, Reds, Rosés, Sparkling Wines and Late Harvest that over the years have won numerous Awards and obtained recognition by Critics and Wine Connoisseurs.
