There are about 190ha of shale land distributed by the slope of the Torto River and the Ribeira de Galegos. The rugged geographical relief of the Douro Demarcated Region, originates a variety of micro-climates where each agricultural crop has its place of choice. Until the end of the 60's was the olive grove (olive oil) the economic support of the agricultural house. In the 1970s this culture was relegated to the background with the vineyard taking the lead that remains to this day.
