<h3><span class="tm7"><strong>Glenfiddich Distillery was</strong> founded in 1886 by William Grant in Duffttown, Scotland, in the Fiddich River Valley. <strong>Glenfiddich single malt</strong> whisky came out of the stills on Christmas Day 1887. </span> <span class="tm7">In the 1920s, with the ban </span> <span class="tm7">in place in the United States, <strong>Glenfiddich</strong> was one of the few distilleries to increase production. This put them in a strong position to meet the sudden surge in demand for fine aged whiskeys that came with the repeal of the ban. </span> <span class="tm7">In the 1950s, the Grant family built an on-site infrastructure that included latoeiros to maintain copper stills</span> and a dedicated pottery that<span class="tm7"> is now one of the few remaining in distilleries. In 1956, Grant's launched the now iconic triangular bottle, designed by Hans Schleger. </span> <span class="tm7">After difficult times in the 1960s and 1970s, many small independent distillers were bought or closed their doors. To survive, W. Grant &amp; Sons expanded its production of the drink and introduced advertising campaigns and a visitor center. </span> <span class="tm7">In this period, they also made the decision to start marketing the single malt as a premium brand by itself, effectively creating the modern category of malt single whisky with the introduction in 1963 of <strong>the Glenfiddich</strong> single malt in the United States and other foreign markets.</span></h3> <p></p>
